Early Hammered Brass Arts & Crafts / Mission Chandelier

$5,250.00

This is an incredible “flush mount” Mission Arts and Crafts chandelier that dates from around 1900-1910. It’s all hand made and in excellent condition. The brass has a nice dark patina with a hammered finish which really makes this fixture stand out from the rest! A great example of TRUE ARTS & CRAFTS WORKMANSHIP that doesn’t get any better than this!

The brass is all hand hammered, hand cut and hand jointed with solder, rivets and screws. The brass has taken on a lovely chocolate brown patina which is the result of some 100+ years of age. All we did was give it a very conservative and mild cleaning before rewiring it. At the moment the fixture has it’s original and extensive total drop of 43″ which can easily be shortened by removing some links of chain. I can’t go on enough about the quality and craftsmanship that went into this fixture. Every chain link is about 2 1/4 in length and was cast individually with a “foe” hammered finish….not mass produced chain that was made from bent brass rod by a machine. If you look closely at the chain you can see the file marks where the maker hand filed the casting or mold marks off each link. Each hand made lantern type shade is in excellent condition with no cracked or repaired panels.

The fixture itself is 16″ square and about 7″ deep. Each shade is 4 1/2″ square and is about 7″ tall. The overall spread is 27″. If you own an Arts & Crafts, Tudor or Mission style home this fixture will fit in nicely and will be the focal point of any room it’s placed in. When lit the shades glow a very warm amber hue. Early American lighting of this quality is becoming very hard to find so don’t miss this opportunity. This is a rare chance to own a true piece of Arts & Crafts decorative art history.
