This is a nice oversized pair of sconces that are in excellent condition and date from the early 1900s. Made from thick copper and lined with white opal slag glass. They are mission / arts & crafts in style but have a bit of an art nouveau motif applied in front of each glass panel. One of the panels is a door that allows access to the bulb. These are 24โณ long by 7 1/4โณ wide and will protrude 10โณ out from the wall. The back plates measure 19โณ long by 4 1/4โณ across. Originally these hung outdoors but could be used anywhere. The copper has turned a dark chocolate brownโฆโฆnice original patina that is a little dry lookingโฆspray them with oil and the color will become more rich or they can always be polished to a high luster.
Someone cut a notch into the side of the back plate probably because they didnโt have a source of electricity directly behind the sconce. The good part is they just bent the metal tab inward and didnโt cut it right out so it can easily be bent back into place if need beโฆnot really noticeable and being mentioned for accuracy.
