Matching PAIR of Lamb Brothers Leaded Glass Lamps

$2,500.00 each. 4800.00 for the pair

Here is a matching pair of  leaded glass lamps that are attributed to the Lamb Brothers & Greene, an early Chicago area manufacturer of electric table lamps. Both lamps have the signature Lamb Brothers heat cap and hinged pull chain sockets.

These lamps date from around 1910-1920 and are in very good condition. Each shade consists of over three hundred panels of glass and is done in a very nice symmetric pattern. The primary colors are a caramel slag glass with dark brown drapes and borders with some little red accent panels here and there. The lamp on the left has no cracked or repaired panels that we can find….the one on the right has about eight or nine cracked panels (close up photos available upon request). These cracked panels are only noticeable upon close inspection and don’t detract from the lamps beauty at all. These damaged panels are all lower panels so repair would not be difficult if the new owner felt it necessary to have it done.

We acquired these both from an avid lamp collector / dealer who is liquidating some of his collection. He told us that he bought the first lamp in the Boston area about twenty-five years ago….the second one was found in Florida about ten years later. They are almost a perfect match with some very slight differences. One lamp has a slightly darker patina than the other and Hubble acorn pull chain sockets…the other base has G.E sockets. We believe the sockets on both lamps to be original.  The dark brown glass used in the shade on the right is textured or molted while the dark brown glass used on the left lamp shade is smooth. Although the dark brown glass is slightly different on the one shade both the copper foiled led work and the quality and craftsmanship is very consistent with one another throughout. They are undoubtedly made by the same maker just made a few months or a year apart. These slight differences are only noticeable upon close inspection and only if the lamps are side by side….close to each other. Once they are a few feet apart these subtle differences will not be noticed at all.

The bases are made from cast iron with an antique brass plated finish. Each shade is just over 16″ in diameter. Each lamp stands about 22″ tall. Both have been recently rewired with new old style cloth covered cord. It is getting difficult to find leaded lamps of this quality let alone a matching pair.
